BOT., vx. Ricin. Les sauvages de l'Amérique (...) se peignent de roucou broyé avec l'huile de palma-christi (BERN. DE ST-P., Harm. nat., 1814, p.149).
Prononc. et Orth.:[]. Ac. 1762: palme de christ, 1798-1878: palma-christi. Étymol. et Hist. 1549 Palme de Christ (FUSCHS, Histoire des plantes, p.194); 1575 Palma-christi (PARÉ, OEuvres, éd. J. F. Malgaigne, III, p.560). Mots lat. signifiant «paume du Christ», nommé ainsi en raison de sa feuille en forme de main.
